Who is Reverb Communications?
What do you get when you take a former broadcaster, a not-for-profit professional, a public inquiry specialist, and a marketing guru?
Well, you get Reverb Communications: A team of unique individuals with a combined 30+ years experience in project coordination, strategic communications, community and stakeholder engagement, media relations, event planning, reputation and brand management...
and a taste for putting crises to bed.
None of us got here on a straight path. Our careers have taken us along winding roads that have led to a diverse and unusual range of experience and expertise. Importantly, though:
we know how projects work, and we know the reality that projects live in.
Whether it's signature infrastructure, a fundraising campaign, a charity-focused event, or just keeping cool and collected when things don't go according to plan - Reverb can build a path.
Reverb team members are known for their work with a diverse range of organizations, including:
- Guangdong Television
- CBC
- City of Edmonton
- Edmonton Transit
- Government of Alberta
- Alberta Cancer Foundation
- Edmonton Down Syndrome Society
- Government of Alberta
What is Reverb known for?
-
- Sharing in telling your stories - we're able to understand where you're coming from, and we can help tell others where you're going.
- Planning for, and managing, crisis - we'll make sure the plan is in place and your people are ready... just in case.
-
- Mitigating impacts and reputational damage - stuff happens. How its addressed within the first 30 minutes sets the course for whether it's a trip to the dentist... or the surgeon.
-
- Working with communities - many projects are a case of "short term pain, long term gain". We know how to speak like actual humans to create understanding around a project's goals and the very real impact it may have on a person's day-to-day life.
-
- Building real relationships with internal and external stakeholders - relationships are at the crux of everything we do. We pride ourselves in meeting people and seeing what we can build, together.
-
- Handling controversy - in a sticky situation, it can be hard to keep an eye on the path.
Let us be your eyes and ears when you're navigating through the mud.
Quinn Nicholson
There is no production without a producer. As Reverb's 'resident producer', Quinn works within the practical and creative realms of projects. He seamlessly roots himself in the various practices to ensure seamless results.
As a communications professional, Quinn's career started in China where he worked as a news anchor and editor on Guangdong Television in Guangzhou, China. Since coming back to Canada, his role has shifted to the strategic side of communications, working closely with the City of Edmonton on major infrastructure projects.
Having a keen eye for matching strategy to talent, Quinn goes above and beyond for the clients he works with. He fosters his relationships, one-on-one, to ensure understanding and cohesiveness. Quinn believes there is always a way through something and takes the time to visualize the path through.
When Quinn is not strategizing through an opportunity or a challenge, he can be found enjoying poetry, both reading and writing, or even ballroom dancing with his wife.
Michelle Ponich
You can't have a great show without a great director. Michelle just happens to be our 'tour de force'. As a charismatic chameleon, Michelle thrives in wearing different hats and is at her best when she is handling a crisis.
Michelle's professional experience is vast. Her career has taken her down some interesting paths, working with the likes of: CBC Radio Canada, the Alberta Cancer Foundation, The Edmonton Down Syndrom Society, and Context Research.
It is Michelle's people skills and genuine interest in giving people the tools to live meaningful, engaged, quality lives that makes her an integral part of the work we do. She excels at working with diverse groups of people and is not fazed when a crisis arises.
You might not guess by looking at her but when she isn't mounting a project, she can be found on a different stage. Boxing, a passion from the time when she was a little girl, has now turned her into a budding boxing official.
"Boxing is a lot like life - we all take some punches throughout our journey, some we see coming, some we don't. At the end of the day it's not about how we fall. It's about how we rise - that willpower and resolve to get up and try again."

Ginny Kulak
Ginny is the 'stage manager' in our cast of characters. Always with her hand on the pulse of what's going on, she provides balance and a certain 'je ne sais quoi' to all we do.
Ginny has a diverse background rooted in business administration and finance. Her career has spanned many sectors: the Government of Alberta, the City of Edmonton, and the Gateway Association for Community Living.
Functioning best as the liaison between practices, Ginny has an uncanny knack for coordinating seemingly unrelated pieces of information, ensuring all angles are considered within a project. She often says "I like to be the person behind the people."
Her determination, insightfulness and extreme wit most definitely provide a sense of balance to our team. Oh, and if you have a question about who the current music stars are of today or need a trendy term, ask Ginny - her kids are ensuring she stay hip.
When Ginny is not balancing project demands, she is likely rounding up friends and family to hike through Edmonton's River Valley. She can also be found getting lost in her passion - History - her go-to when she finds herself wide-awake at 2 a.m.
Julia Molaro
Cue the music - spearheading Reverb's proposal work, is our 'resident composer', Julia. From assessing the needs and requirements of the work we bid on to crafting our proposals to navigating how we are able to assist potential clients, Julia ensures every aspect of our proposals are 'harmonized'.
Julia brings a solid background in proposal development, business acquisition, and brand representation. Her career has seen her working predominantly in the construction realm with companies such as Jen-Col and Supreme Steel.
Her infectious energy and strong work ethic make Julia a welcome addition to the Reverb team. She is comfortable taking a composition from a blank page to a masterpiece and is at her best where input and collaboration meet.
When Julia isn't putting the final touches on a piece of work, she seeks adventure through traveling/backpacking. 2016 was an exciting year for Julia as she hiked up an active volcano in Bali and went skydiving and bungie jumping in New Zealand.
She can also be found reading a good romance novel, which she makes no qualms about. "I think Cowboy themed romance novels are the best type of romance novel."
